Operations Manager - Event Team

The Event Team Operations Manager is a new position reporting to the Director of Operations.

THE OPERATIONS TEAM

Here at Luster our clients are at the core of everything we do.  We strive to provide an incredible client experience at each and every event, and the operations team is responsible for taking care of all the details that go into making that happen. The Operations Team encompasses client experience, event execution, and hardware management. We pride ourselves on being incredibly organized, amazing problems solvers, passionate about what we do, and always up for a good laugh.

THE JOB

The Event Team Operations Manager handles the day-to-day organization, and management of our Live Event Staff. This team is an awesome group of local and remote part-time employees who handle on-the-ground event execution, and responsible for creating a flawless client experience. The role is comprised of three primary responsibilities:

Staffing Logistics

  • Managing staffing schedule

  • Tracking schedule requests and time off

  • Booking Live Event Staff travel for all events

  • Running and managing payroll

  • Communicating staff resource availability

  • Ensure adequate staffing to maintain service levels and employee satisfaction


Event Staff Management & Community Building

  • Manage a growing team of 30-50 part-time awesome remote employees

  • Develop talent and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve the team

  • Take responsibility for team overall performance, and key performance indicators

  • Manage employee performance issues and employee termination

  • Think strategically about the Luster community and implement ideas to increase job satisfaction, and reduce turnover

  • Act as liaison with PEO company for human resource needs

  • Provide biannual employee reviews

  • Organize and run quarterly meetings for purpose of team building and continuing education

  • Help setup and improve process to do all of the above!


Operational Improvements

  • Identify and drive improvements to our workflows and processes

  • Strategize, research, plan and implement new technologies and support channels for our event team

  • Participate in the preparation of operating budgets and forecasts to assist in department planning

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 3-5 years of work experience in relevant position

  • Experience with hiring and managing part-time and or remote staff

  • Strong communication skills

  • Understanding of what motivates employees

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to use spreadsheets and other tools to make a data-driven business case

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Strong problem solving skills and an insatiable desire to improve yourself, others around you and the business in general

  • A creative and entrepreneurial mindset, always looking for ways to improve our product and operational processes

  • An ability to thrive in a growing, and changing organization
